  • Basic Riding Course I
    (2 Wheel)

  • Do I need experience to take the BRC-I course?

    This course is designed for the true novice rider who has little or no riding experience. A motorcycle learner’s permit is NOT required to participate. It includes online, formal classroom, and riding instruction on the basic riding skills and strategies necessary for an individual to begin to practice street riding. Courses are taught by Motor Vehicle Administration and Motorcycle Safety Foundation certified Instructors/Rider Coaches. You should be able to ride a bicycle to participate in this course.

  • Where is the BRC-I course located?

    All 2-Wheel and 3-Wheel BRC classes meet at:

          White Plains, Maryland 20604

  • Are there any pre-reqs for the BRC-I course?

    The E-COURSE must be completed BEFORE the first day of class. You must bring a copy of the certificate of completion. The eCourse takes approximately 3-hours to complete which you complete at your pace.

    Safety Zone Riding School students who are REGISTERED for a motorcycle course will receive a coupon CODE to register for FREE within 24 hours.

  • What can I expect from the BRC-I course?

    There are approximately 4.5-hours of formal classroom instruction that covers rider perception and decision making. A variety of interactive activities are used to help explain and illustrate important concepts. You must complete 10-hours of outdoor range exercises that consist of multiple riding exercises throughout the 2 day course. It is required to complete the 2 day course you enrolled in to be certified. Failure to complete the enrolled course results in forfeiture of payment and you will have to repeat the registration process.

    To pass the course you must complete the eCourse, participate in all the course sessions and pass a knowledge test and on-cycle test. Riders satisfactorily completing the Basic Rider Course are eligible to receive a Maryland Completion Card and their Class M license.

    Course participants are required to report to all scheduled sessions regardless of weather.

  • What do I need for the BRC-I course?

    A rental bike can be provided for an additional $99 due at the start of the course. Call to arrange for rental reservation.     (240) 412-5747

    A participant may use their personal scooter in a BRC if it has an engine displacement of 51 cubic centimeters or more. Personal scooters must be in good operating condition and be transported to the training center legally. A personal scooter must be insured and the owner must assume all liability for its use in the course. The Program will not be responsible for any damage to a personal scooter as a result of participation.

    Wear protective clothing (eye protection, suitable jacket, long pants, full-fingered gloves and over-the-ankle footwear) during the riding portion.

    All helmets must be DOT certified and in good condition with proper labeling intact.

  • What time is the BRC-I course?

    Class starts at 8:00 am. Please arrive 15 minutes early

    This is a group course and we must begin on time. If you are late, Safety Zone Riding reserves the right to deny entry. Refunds are not issued in the event a participant arrives late.

  • Basic Riding Course II
    (2 Wheel)

  • Do I need experience to take the BRC-II course?

    This is an 8-hour course that provides another option for an individual to receive their license without having to take the full 17-hour basic course. It is only for individuals that have some riding experience such as dirt bike, off street riding (or the likes) and seeking a Class “M” license.

  • What can I expect from the BRC-II course?

    This is an 8-hour course designed for individuals with some type of experience. You must have some experience with a 2-Wheel in order to participate in this course. The condensed structure of this class does NOT allow for the instructors to cover the basics of riding.

    To pass the course you must complete the eCourse, participate in all the course sessions and pass a knowledge test and on-cycle test. Riders satisfactorily completing the Basic Rider Course II are eligible to receive a Maryland Completion Card and their Class M license.

    Course participants are required to report to all scheduled sessions regardless of weather.

    Participants are eligible for one retest of both course tests.

  • What time is the BRC-II course?

    Class starts at 8:00 am. Please arrive 15 minutes early
